LEISNIG , a See also:town in the See also:kingdom of See also:Saxony, prettily situated on the Freiberger See also:Mulde, 7 M. S. of See also:Grimma by the railway from See also:Leipzig to See also:Dresden via See also:Dobeln. Pop. (1905) 8147. On a high See also:rock above the town lies the old See also:castle of Mildenstein, now utilized as administrative offices. The See also:industries include the manufacture of See also:cloth, See also:furniture, boots, buttons, cigars, See also:beer, machinery and chemicals. Leisnig is a See also:place of considerabl antiquity. About 108o it passed into the See also:possession of the See also:counts of Groitzsch, but was See also:purchased in '157 by the See also:emperor See also:Frederick I., who committed it to the See also:charge of counts.
