MARCHE , a See also:

town of See also:Belgium in the See also:province of See also:Luxemburg, 33 M. S.W. of See also:Liege and about 28 m. S.E. of See also:Namur. Pop. (1904), 3540. It See also:dates from the 7th See also:century, when it was the See also:chief town of the pagus falmiensis, as it still is of the same See also:district now called Famene. Formerly it was fortified, and a treaty was signed there in 1577 between See also:Philip II. and the See also:United Provinces. In 1792 See also:Lafayette was taken prisoner by the Austrians in a skirmish near it.
