NAMUR , one of the nine provinces of See also:

Belgium. It lies between See also:Hainaut on the one See also:side and See also:Liege and See also:Luxemburg on the other, and extends from See also:Brabant up the See also:Meuse valley to the See also:French frontier. See also:Area, 1414 sq. m.; pop. (1904) 357,759. The See also:part See also:north of the Meuse is very fertile, but the See also:rest is covered with See also:forest and is little suited for See also:agriculture. There are a few See also:iron and See also:coal-mines between the Sambre and Meuse, and the quarries are of See also:great importance. See also:Arboriculture, and especially See also:fruit-See also:tree See also:plantation, is on the increase. The See also:province is divided into the three arrondissements of Namur, See also:Dinant and See also:Philippeville, and there are fifteen cantons for judicial purposes.
