MASTIGOPHORA , a See also:

group of See also:Protozoa, moving and ingesting See also:food by See also:long flagella (Gr. isav-See also:rc , See also:whip), usually few in number, and multiplying by fission, usually See also:longitudinal, in the active See also:condition. They were separated off from the See also:rest of the old " See also:Infusoria " by K. Diising, and subdivided by O. Biitschli and E. R. Lankester into (I) See also:Flagellata (q.v.), including Haemoflagellata (q.v.), (2) See also:Dinoflagellata (q.v.) and Rhyncho = See also:Cystoflagellata E. See also:Haeckel (q.v.) = Rhynchoflagellata E. R. Lankester. The Mastigophora are frequently termed Flagellata or Flagellates.
