MATADOR , a See also:

Spanish word meaning literally " killer," from similar, See also:Lat. mactare, especially applied to the See also:principal performer in a See also:bull-fight, whose See also:function it is to slay the bull (see BULL-FIGHTING). The word is also used of certain important See also:cards in such See also:games as See also:quadrille, See also:ombre, &c., and more particularly of a See also:special See also:form of the See also:game of See also:dominoes.
