MUROM , a See also:

town of See also:Russia, in the See also:government of See also:Vladimir, on the craggy See also:left See also:bank of the Oka, See also:close to its confluence with the Tesha, ,o8 m. by See also:rail S.E. of the See also:city of Vladimir. Pop. (1900), 12,874. Muron has an old See also:cathedral. It is the See also:chief See also:entrepot for See also:grain from the See also:basin of the See also:lower Oka, and carries on an active See also:trade with See also:Moscow and Nizhniy-See also:Novgorod. It is famed, as in See also:ancient times, for See also:kitchen-gardens, especially for its cucumbers and See also:seed for canaries. Its once famous tanneries have lost their importance, but the manufacture of See also:linen has increased; it has also See also:steam See also:flour-See also:mills, distilleries, manufactories of See also:soap and of See also:iron implements.
