NARVIK or VICTORIAHAVN, a seaport on the Ofoten See also:

Fjord of the See also:north-See also:west See also:coast of See also:Norway, in Nordland amt (See also:county), 68° 30' N. It is wholly See also:modern, See also:developed by the construction and completion (1903) of the Ofoten railway, the most northerly in the See also:world. There are extensive quays, from which is shipped the See also:iron ore from the See also:rich districts traversed by the See also:line. Narvik is 167 m. N.W. of See also:Gellivara, and 982 N. by W. of See also:Stockholm by the railway. In summer See also:express trains See also:cover the whole distance in two days. Narvik is a convenient point from which to visit the beautiful Lofoten Islands.
