Orbigny's name for a genus of Perforate See also:Foraminifera (q.v.), distinguished by the flattened, lenticular discoid See also:shell of many turns, finely perforated; See also:chambers subdivided by incomplete septa into squarish chamber-lets. This genus is especially abundant in See also:Eocene Limestones, which attain See also:great thickness around the Mediterranean See also:basin; the Pyramids of See also:Egypt are built of it.
