POVOA DE VARZIM , a seaport of See also:

northern See also:Portugal, in the See also:district of See also:Oporto; on a small and See also:ill-sheltered See also:bay, 18 m. N. of Oporto by the See also:branch railway to See also:Villa Nova de Familicao. Pop. (1900), 12,623. In summer Povoa de Varzim is the most frequented See also:sea-bathing resort in northern Portugal; it is also the headquarters of important sardine, See also:hake, and sea-See also:bream See also:fisheries.
