It is very See also:common on the coasts of See also:Europe and eastern See also:North See also:America, but its flesh is much less esteemed than that of the true Gadi. Specimens 4 ft. in length are not scarce. There are See also:local See also:variations in the use of " hake " as a name; in America the " See also:silver hake " (Merluccius bilinearis), sometimes called "See also:whiting," and " Pacific hake " (Merluccius productus) are also See also:food-fishes of inferior quality.
