PRECARIOUS , literally, held on the goad-will of another, or on entreaty (See also:

Lat. prex, precis, See also:prayer) to another. The word is used, in See also:law, of a See also:tenure of See also:land, See also:office, &c., held at the See also:pleasure of another. In See also:general usage it has the significance of something uncertain, dangerous or risky.
