QUILLOTA , a See also:

town of See also:Chile in the See also:province of See also:Valparaiso, on the See also:left See also:bank of the See also:Aconcagua See also:river, 20 M. above its mouth and 26 m. E.N.E. of the See also:city of Valparaiso. Pop. (1902 estimate) 9876. The valley is noted for its beauty, fertility, and healthfulness, and is the centre of thriving See also:fruit and See also:wine See also:industries. Among its fruits is the " chirimoya " (Anona cherimolia). There are See also:rich See also:copper mines in the vicinity. Quillota is situated on a railway between Valparaiso and See also:Santiago, which passes through a mountainous, semi-barren See also:country. It is one of the See also:oldest towns of Chile, dating from the first years of the See also:conquest.
