RYLSK , a See also:

town of See also:Russia, in the See also:government of See also:Kursk, 71 m. by See also:rail W.S.W. of the town of Kursk. It is connected by a See also:branch See also:line with the Kursk-See also:Kiev railway. Pop. (1897) 11,415. It has oil See also:works, blast furnaces, and manufactories of See also:soap and See also:tallow, and an active See also:trade in See also:corn, See also:hemp, and scythes imported from See also:Austria. It was founded in the 9th See also:century, and is frequently mentioned in the See also:annals from 1152 onwards. Its See also:cathedral was built in the 15th century.
