USTYUG VELIKIY , a See also:

town of See also:Russia, in the See also:government of See also:Vologda, 216 m. N.E. from the See also:city of Vologda, on the navigable Sukhona See also:river, near its confluence with the Yug. Pop. (1885) 8119; (1897) 11,309. It manufactures See also:hosiery, woollens and linens, has sawmills, and carries on an active See also:trade in See also:corn, See also:hemp, See also:flax, bristles and See also:butter, which it exports. It has two important yearly fairs. Its artisans are famous for their See also:jewelry, for See also:engraving upon See also:silver and the fabrication of boxes with See also:secret locks.
