(1900) 242,196; See also:area, 165o sq. m. There are alkaline waters and See also:baths at Vidago (near See also:Chaves) and at Pedras Salgadas (near Villa Pouca d'Aguiar). The district adjacent to the Douro is known as the Paiz do vinho, or " wine See also:country "; here are the vineyards from which " See also:port " wine is manufactured.
