See also:WAUGH, See also:EDWIN (1817-1890) , known as " The See also:Lancashire Poet," was See also:born at See also:Rochdale, on the 29th of See also:January 1817, the son of a shoemaker. For several years he earned his living as a journeyman printer in various parts of the See also:country. In 1855 he published his first See also:book, Sketches of Lancashire See also:Life and Localities, following this up with reprinted Poems and Songs (1859). His rendering of the Lahcashire See also:dialect was most happy, and his See also:rude lyrics, full of See also:humour and pathos, were See also:great favourites with his countrymen. He died on the 30th of See also:April 1890 See See also:Milner's Memoir in an edition of Waugh's selected See also:works (1892-1893).
