ZENOBIUS , a See also:Greek sophist, who taught See also:rhetoric at See also:Rome during the reign of See also:Hadrian (A.D. 117—138). He was the author of a collection of See also:proverbs in three books, still extant in an abridged See also:form, compiled, according to Sufdas, from See also:Didymus of See also:Alexandria and " The Tarrhaean " (Lucillus of Tarrha in See also:Crete). Zenobius is also said to have been the author of a Greek See also:translation of See also:Sallust and of a birthday poem (yeveOAtaKOv) on Hadrian. See also:Editions by T.
