ANTWERP , the most See also:

northern of the nine provinces of See also:Belgium. It is conterminous with the Dutch frontier on the See also:north. See also:Malines, See also:Lierre and See also:Turnhout are among the towns of the See also:province. Its importance, however, is derived from the fact that it contains the commercial See also:metropolis of Belgium. It is divided into three administrative districts (arrondissements), viz. Antwerp, Malines and Turnhout. These are subdivided into 25 cantons and 152 communes. The See also:area is 707,932 acres or 11o6 sq. m. Pop. (1904) 888,980, showing an See also:average of 804 inhabitants to the square mile.
