He became a See also:professor at See also:Hamburg and then at Madrid, becoming famous meanwhile as one of the finest violinists of the See also:day; and after visiting See also:England in 1890 and establishing his reputation there, he became professor at the Royal See also:College of See also:Music in See also:London. As a composer he is best known by his See also:violin pieces, and by a comic See also:opera, El Centro de la Tierra (1895).
