It resisted See also:Caesar longer than most of See also:Gaul; when once vanquished it adopted See also:Roman See also:civilization readily. Its tribal deity, the See also:god of the See also:mountain, the See also:Puy de See also:Dome, rechristened in Roman phrase Mercurius Dumias, was famous far beyond its territory.
