ASAPH , the eponym of the Asaphite gild of singers, one of the hereditary choirs that superintended the musical services of the See also:

temple at See also:Jerusalem in See also:post-exilic times. The names occur in the titles of certain See also:Psalms, and the writer of the See also:Book of See also:Chronicles makes Asaph a seer (2 Chron. See also:xxix. 3o), contemporary with See also:David and See also:Solomon, and See also:chief of the singers of his See also:time.
