As architect to See also:Louis XV. from 1755 he necessarily did much in the See also:rococo manner, although it would seem that he conformed to See also:fashion rather than to See also:artistic conviction. He was among the earliest founders of See also:schools of See also:architecture in See also:France, and for this he was distinguished by the See also:Academy; but he is now best remembered by his voluminous See also:work L'Architecture francaise, in which he was the continuator of See also:Marot. The See also:book is a See also:precious collection of views of famous buildings, many of which have disappeared or been remodelled.
