BODO , a seaport on the See also:

north-western See also:coast of See also:Norway, in Nordland amt (See also:county), See also:lat. 67° 17' N. Pop. (1900) 4827. The See also:rock-See also:bound See also:harbour admits large vessels, and there is a brisk See also:trade in See also:fish and See also:eider-down. The neighbouring See also:country has many scenic attractions. Sixty See also:miles inland (E.) rises the See also:great See also:massif of See also:Sulitelma on the See also:Swedish frontier, with its See also:copper mines, broad See also:snow-See also:fields and glaciers. The fjords of the See also:district include the imposing Beierenfjord, the Saltenfjord, and the Skjerstadfjord, at the narrow mouths of which, between islands, a remarkable See also:cataract (Saltstrom) is formed at the turn of the See also:tide. On this See also:fjord is Skjerstad, a large scattered See also:village.
