BYEZHETSK , a See also:town of See also:Russia, in the See also:government of See also:Tver, and 70 M. N.N.E. of the See also:city of that name, on the right See also:bank of the Mologa, in 57° 46' N. See also:lat. and 36° 43' E. See also:long. Pop. (186o) 5423; (1897) 9090. It is mentioned in the See also:chronicles of 1137. On the fall of See also:Novgorod, to which it had belonged, it was incorporated (1479) with the See also:grand-duchy of See also:Moscow. The town is famous for its scythes andshearing hooks,but makes also axes,nails and other hardware, and trades in See also:grain, See also:linen, See also:hemp and See also:flax.
