CASTELLO, VALERIO (1625-1659) , See also:Italian painter, was the youngest son of Bernardo Castello (q.v.). He surpassed his See also:father, and particularly excelled in See also:painting See also:battle-scenes. He painted the " See also:Rape of the Sabines," now in the Palazzo Brignole, See also:Genoa, and decorated the See also:cupola of the See also:church of the Annunziata in the same See also:city. In these See also:works he is regarded by his admirers as combining the See also:fire of See also:Tintoretto with the See also:general See also:style of See also:Paolo Veronese.
