CENTENARY (from See also:Lat. centenarius, of or belonging to a See also:hundred, from centeni, distributive of centum, hundred) , a space of a hundred years, and particularly the celebration of an event on the See also:lapse of a hundred years, a centennial anniversary. The word " centennial " (from Lat. cent See also:ennis, from centum, and annus, a See also:year), though usually an See also:adjective as in " the Centennial See also:State," the name given to See also:Colorado on its See also:admission to statehood in 1876, is also used as a synonym of centenary.
