CRASH , a technical textile See also:

term applied to a See also:species of narrow towels, from 14 to 20 in. wide. The name is probably of See also:Russian origin, the simplest and coarsest type of the See also:cloth being known as " See also:Russia crash." The latter is made from See also:grey See also:flax or See also:tow yarns, and sometimes from boiled yarns. The See also:simple term " crash " is given to all these narrow cloths, but the above distinction is very convenient, as also are the following: grey, boiled, bleached,See also:plain, twilled and See also:fancy crash. A large variety obtains with and without fancy See also:borders, while of See also:late years See also:cotton has been introduced as warp, as well as mixed and jute yarns for weft.
