French actor, was See also:born at Lignerolles on the 1st of See also:October 1822, and entered the See also:Conservatoire in 1841, winning the second See also:prize for See also:comedy that See also:year and the first in 1842. After a year of military service he made his debut at the Comedic Frangaise on the 17th of See also:July 1844, as See also:Alexis in See also:Les Heritiers and Mascarelles in Les Precieuses ridicules. He was immediately admitted pensionnaire, and be-came socie.taire in 185o. By See also:special permission of ,the See also:emperor in 1866 he played at the Odeon in Emile See also:Augier's Contagion. His See also:golden See also:jubilee at the See also:Theatre See also:Francais was celebrated in 1894, and he made his final See also:appearance the year after. Got was a See also:fine representative of the See also:grand See also:style of French acting, and was much admired in See also:England as well as in See also:Paris. He wrote the libretto of the See also:opera See also:Francois See also:Villon (1857) and also 9f L'Esclave (1874). In 1881 he was decorated with the See also:cross of the See also:Legion of See also:Honour.
