JULY , the seventh See also:

month in the See also:Christian See also:calendar, consisting of See also:thirty-one days. It was originally the fifth month of the See also:year, and as such was called by the See also:Romans Quintilis. The later name of See also:Julius was given in See also:honour of Julius See also:Caesar (who was See also:born in the month); it came into use in the year of his See also:death. The Anglo-See also:Saxons called July Hegmonath, " See also:hay-month," or Maed-monath, " See also:mead-month," the meadows being then in See also:bloom. Another name was aftera li15a, " the latter mild month," in contradistinction to See also:June, which was named " the former mild month." See also:Chief See also:dates of the month: 3rd July, See also:Dog Days begin; 15th July, St Swithin; 25th July, St See also:James.
