HARLESS, GOTTLIEB CHRISTOPH ADOLF VON (1806–1879) , See also:German divine, was See also:born at See also:Nuremberg on the 21st of See also:November 1806, and was educated at the See also:universities of See also:Erlangen and See also:Halle. . He was appointed See also:professor of See also:theology at Erlangen in 1836 and at See also:Leipzig in 1845. He was a strong Lutheran and exercised a powerful See also:influence in that direction as See also:court preacher in See also:Dresden and as See also:president of the See also:Protestant See also:consistory at See also:Munich. His See also:chief See also:works were Theologische Encyklopadie and Methodologie (1837) and See also:Die christliche Ethik (1842, Eng. trans. 1868). He died on the 5th of See also:September 1879, having, a few years earlier, written an autobiography under the See also:title Bruchstiicke aus dem Leben eines siiddeutschen Theologen.
