HOT SPRINGS , a See also:

hamlet and See also:health-resort in See also:Cedar See also:Creek See also:District, See also:Bath See also:county, See also:Virginia, U.S.A., 25 M. by See also:rail (a See also:branch of the Chesapeake & See also:Ohio railway) N. by E. of See also:Covington and near the N.W. border of the See also:state. It lies in a narrow valley, about 2200-2500 ft. above the See also:sea, with rugged mountains on either See also:side. Pop. of the district (190o) 1761; (1910) 2472. The mean summer temperature is only 69° F., and the summer nights are always cool. There is a See also:good See also:golf-course. See also:Mineral See also:waters (with See also:magnesia, soda-lithia and See also:alum) issue from several springs, some at a temperature as high as rob° F., and are used both for drinking and for bathing. The Warm See also:Sulphur Springs (about 98° F.) are 5 M. N.; Healing Springs (85° F.) are 22 m. S. of Hot Springs; and a few See also:miles to the S.E., in Rockbridge county, are Rockbridge and See also:Jordan Alum Springs.
