HYPOSTYLE , in See also:

architecture, the See also:term applied to a See also:hall, the See also:flat See also:ceiling of which is supported by columns, as in the Hall of Columns at See also:Karnak. In this ease the columns flanking the central See also:avenue are of greater height than those of the See also:side aisles, and this admits of openings in the See also:wall above the smaller columns, through which See also:light is admitted over the See also:aisle roof, through See also:clerestory windows.
