ISLAMABAD , a See also:

town of See also:India in the See also:state of See also:Kashmir, on the See also:north See also:bank of the See also:Jhelum. Pop. (1901) 9390. The town crowns the See also:summit of a See also:long See also:low See also:ridge, extending from the mountains eastward. It is the second town in Kashmir, and 873 was oiigh allythe See also:capital- of the valley, but is now decaying. It' contains an old 'summer See also:palace, overshadowed by See also:plane trees, with numerous springs, and a See also:fine See also:mosque and See also:shrine. Below the town is a See also:reservoir containing a See also:spring of clear See also:water called the Anant Nag, slightly sulphurous, from which volumes of See also:gas continually arise; the water swarms with sacred See also:fish. There are manufactures of Kashmir shawls, also of chintzes, See also:cotton and woollen goods.
