LIRI , a See also:town of See also:Campania, in the See also:province of See also:Caserta, See also:Italy, 15 M. by See also:rail N.N.W. of Roccasecca, which is on the See also:main See also:line from See also:Rome to See also:Naples, 10 m. N.W. of Cassino. Pop. (1901), town, 2384; See also:commune, 8244. The town consists of two parts, Isola Superiore and Isola Inferiore; as its name implies it is situated between two arms of the Liri. The many waterfalls of this See also:river and of the Fibreno afford See also:motive See also:power for several important See also:paper-See also:mills. Two of the falls, 8o ft. in height, are especially See also:fine. About 1 m. to the N. is the See also:church of See also:San Domenico, erected in the 12th See also:century, which probably marks the site of the See also:villa of See also:Cicero (see See also:ARPINO).
