JICARILLA , a tribe of See also:

North See also:American See also:Indians of See also:Athapascan stock. Their former range was in New See also:Mexico, about the See also:head-See also:waters of the Rio Grande and the Pecos, and they are now settled in a See also:reservation on the See also:northern border of New Mexico. Origin-ally a See also:scourge of the See also:district, they are now subdued, but remain uncivilized. They number some Boo and are steadily decreasing. The name is said to be from the See also:Spanish jicara, a See also:basket See also:tray, in reference to their excellent basket-See also:work.
