It is See also:rich in minerals, including See also:silver, See also:copper, See also:mercury, See also:bismuth, See also:molybdenum, See also:lead and See also:coal. The Huallaga and See also:Man-taro See also:rivers have their See also:sources in this department, the latter in See also:Lake Junin, or Chanchaycocha, 13,230 ft. above See also:sea-level. The See also:capital of Junin is Cerro de Pasco, and its two See also:principal towns are Jauja and Tarma (pop., 1906, about 12,000 and 5000 respectively).
