KOBELL, WOLFGANG XAVER See also:FRANZ, See also:BARON VON (1803-1882) , See also:German mineralogist, was See also:born at See also:Munich on the 19th of See also:July 1803. He studied See also:chemistry and See also:mineralogy at See also:Landshut (1820-1823), and in 1826 became See also:professor of mineralogy in the university of Munich. He introduced some new methods of See also:mineral analyses, and in 1855 invented the stauroscope for the study of the See also:optical properties of crystals. He contributed numerous papers to scientific See also:journals, and described many new minerals. He died at Munich on the 1th of See also:November, 1882.
