KREMS , a See also:

town of See also:Austria, in See also:lower Austria, 40 M. W.N.W. of See also:Vienna by See also:rail. Pop. (1900), 12,657. It is situated at the confluence of the Krems with the See also:Danube. The manufactures comprise See also:steel goods, See also:mustard and See also:vinegar, and a See also:special See also:kind of See also:white See also:lead (Kremser See also:Weiss) is prepared from deposits in the neighbourhood. The See also:trade is mainly in these products and in See also:wine and See also:saffron. The Danube See also:harbour of Krems is at the adjoining town of See also:Stein (pop., 4299).
