KURO SIWO , or See also:Kurz() SHIO (literally See also:blue See also:salt), a stream current in the Pacific Ocean, easily distinguishable by the warm temperature and blue See also:colour of its See also:waters, flowing See also:north-eastwards along the See also:east See also:coast of See also:Japan, and separated from it by a See also:strip of See also:cold See also:water. The current persists as a stream to about 40 N., between the meridians of 150° E. and 16o° E., when it merges in the See also:general easterly See also:drift of the North Pacific.
