LASWARI , one of the decisive battles of See also: India. It was fought on the 1st of See also:November 1803 between the See also:British under See also:General See also:Lake, and the Mahratta troops of Sindia, consisting of the remnant of See also:Perron's battalions. Laswari is a See also:village in the See also:state of Aiwar some 8o m. S. of See also:Delhi, and here Lake overtook the enemy and attacked them with his See also:cavalry before the See also:infantry arrived. The result was indecisive, but when the infantry came up there ensued one of the most evenly contested battles ever fought between the British and the natives of India, which ended in a See also:complete victory for the British.
