city of See also:Colombia and See also:capital of the See also:department of Caldas (up to 1905 the See also:northern See also:part of Antioquia, 75 M. S. of See also:Medellin, on the old See also:trade route across the See also:Cordillera between Honda, on the Magdalena, and the See also:Cauca Valley. Pop. (1906, estimate), 20,000. The city is situated on a See also:plateau of the western slope of the Cordillera, 6988 ft. above the See also:sea. It is surrounded by See also:rich See also:mineral and agricultural districts.
