MENSA and MAREA, semi-See also:

They have for neighbours the Habab and Beni-Amer tribes, as well as Abyssinians. The Marea are found cnieily in the valley of the Khor Anseba, the Mensa dwelling farther See also:north. These tribes claim Arab origin, tracing their descent from an See also:uncle of the See also:Prophet. Under Abyssinian See also:rule they were Christians, but became Mahommedans in the 19th See also:century. They speak a See also:dialect of Tigrin (Abyssinian). On the See also:death of a Marea the See also:head of every dependent See also:tigre or slave See also:family must give his heirs a cow. The tribes avenge an illegitimate See also:birth by putting parents and See also:child to death.
