MONTILLA , a See also:

town of See also:southern See also:Spain, in the See also:province of See also:Cordova, 32 M. S. of the See also:city of Cordova, by the Cordova-Bobadilla railway. Pop. (1900), 13,603. The oil of the See also:district is abundant and See also:good; and it is the See also:peculiar flavour of the See also:pale dry See also:light See also:wine of Montilla that gives its name to the See also:sherry known as Amontillado. Montilla was the birthplace of " The See also:Great See also:Captain," Gonzalo or Gonsalvo of Cordova (1453-1515), and contains the ruined See also:castle of his See also:father, Pedro See also:Fernandez de Cordova.
