WASHINGTON , a See also:town of the See also:province of See also:Capiz, See also:island of Panay, Philippine Islands, on the N. See also:coast about 17 M. W. of Capiz, the See also:capital of the province. The town was formed in 1903 by uniting the towns of Batan, Jimeno, Balete and the See also:village or barrio of Lagatic in the town of Calibo; the See also:total See also:population at that See also:time was 24,480. There are about sixty-six barrios, but all of these except Lagatic, the seat of the municipal See also:government, had in 1903 less than l000 inhabitants. The See also:language is Visayan. The cultivation of See also:rice, See also:sugar See also:cane, See also:hemp, and See also:Indian See also:corn and the raising of See also:cattle and horses are the See also:principal See also:industries.
