OMAHAS , a tribe of See also:

North See also:American See also:Indians of Siouan stock. They were found on St See also:Peter's See also:river, See also:Minnesota, where they lived an agricultural See also:life. Owing to a severe epidemic of small-pox they abandoned their See also:village, and wandered westward to the Niobrara river in See also:Nebraska. After a See also:succession of See also:treaties and removals they are now located on a See also:reservation in eastern Nebraska, and number some 1200.
