OZIERI , a See also:town of See also:Sardinia in the See also:province of See also:Sassari, from which it is 34 M. E.S.E. by See also:rail. Pop. (1901) 9555. It is situated 128o ft. above See also:sea-level on a steep slope, but faces See also:north, and so is not very healthy. In the centre of the town is a square with a See also:fine See also:fountain of 1594. The See also:cathedral was restored in 1848; it is the seat of the See also:diocese of Bisarcio. The former cathedral of this diocese lies some distance to the N.W.; it is a fine Romanesque See also:building of the 12th and 13th centuries. The See also:district of Ozieri is famous for its See also:butter—the only butter made in Sardinia—See also:cheese and other See also:pastoral products; See also:cattle are also bred here. See D.
