SESTINA , one of the most elaborate forms of See also:

verse employed by the See also:medieval poets of See also:Provence and See also:Italy, and retained in occasional use by the See also:modern poets of Western See also:Europe. The See also:scheme on which the sestina is built was the invention of the See also:great See also:troubadour, Arnaut See also:Daniel (d. 1199), who wrote many sestinas in the lingua di si.
