SHIRVAN , a small See also:

district of the See also:great See also:province of See also:Khorasan in See also:Persia, N.W. of See also:Meshed and W. of See also:Kuchan. It is under the See also:jurisdiction of Kuchan and comprises the See also:town of the same name and twelve villages with a See also:population of 12,000. It produces See also:cotton, See also:wheat and a little See also:silk. SIIIRVAN, the See also:capital, is situated on the See also:river See also:Atrek, in 37° 24' N., 570 56' E. at an See also:elevation of 3500 ft. Its inhabitants are of the See also:Turkish Garai'i tribe and number about 7000. There are See also:post and See also:telegraph offices.
