town of See also:Germany, in the Prussian See also:province of See also:Saxony, charmingly situated under the See also:northern declivity of the Harz Mountains, 8 m. by See also:rail S.W. of Quedlinburg, at the entrance to the romantic See also:gorge of the See also:Bode, and in the immediate vicinity of the Rosstrappe, the Hexentanzplatz and other notable points in the Harz. Pop. (19o5) 13,194. It is 'Largely frequented as a summer resort and for its saline springs.
