He made his first See also:appearance as a pianist at See also:Prince Metternich's in 1826, and published his first See also:composition—a See also:Fantasia on Airs from " Euryanthe "—in 1828, but it was not until 1830 that he was first fairly introduced to the public, with such brilliant success that from that See also:time forward his only See also:rival was See also:Liszt (q.v.). In 1834 he was appointed " kammervirtuos " to the See also:emperor of See also:Austria. He first appeared in See also:Paris in 1837; and in 1838 he went to See also:England, astonishing his hearers with the novel effects produced in his See also:Variations on See also:God See also:Save the See also:Queen, while he charmed them with his delicate See also:touch and the purity of his expression. Thenceforward his career was a See also:succession of triumphs.
